Festivals reflect customs and traditions associated with
Anglo-Saxon culture.
Usually these lessons include songs, chants, games, and
hands on activities.
We must use festivals with our class:
For motivation. Festivals are traditionnally a time when
everybody joins together and participates in shared
celebrations.
For interest. It´s a good opportunity for bringing English
class activities clooser to the children´s world, interests
and activities.
For tolerance. Festivals provide us with an opportunity for
cross cultural awareness.
For variety. Festivals activities broaden the use of English,
taking it beyond the confines of the language contained or g
enerated in the normal units of a coursebook.
For flexibility. We can choose to interrumpt the pace of our
lessons and lighten the atmosphere by introducing festivals.
Festivals announce many coming holidays or short breaks and
the children are more willing to participate and celebrate.
